“I have come to give life and life in all it’s fullness” – Jesus
Who doesn’t want life in all it’s fullness? This journey we’re on called life, has its ups and downs. However life is about learning and growing and making the most of the opportunities that are put in front of us.
(This will hopefully be a lino print)

“Imagination is the highest kite one can fly” – Lauren Bacall
Letter K is inspired by my love for kite flying. Of all things I would love to do is to be able to fly. As a kid I loved heroes like superman. Flying kites brings my childhood back. I love the freedom and power that can be felt when flying them.

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” – Lao Tzu
Train journeys are a way of life for me at the moment. For the last two years I have travelled by train to see my fiancee, firstly in Liverpool and now in Kingston. I couldn’t even calculate the miles even if I tried. But train journeys make me consider our own journeys in life, the connections we make and the destinations we reach. We change platforms every single day. We get delayed in our daily life. However what is our attitude towards them.

“A good idea will keep you awake during the morning, but a great idea will keep you awake during the night” – Marilyn vos Savant
Thinking of ideas as a graphic designer is sometimes a real challenge, especially when you have many projects on the go at one time. Ideas are a process – they are a path you walk along until you find the solution. As a designer the path could be short or it could turn into a long stroll, but we must persevere until we find whats at the end of that path. If nothing, then we must press on and make a new path, to reach a new idea.
First ever Lino cut print
It was 5 days ago since I started my first ever linocut. It has taken a lot of patience and 6 hours of carving. But now I have my first print. Here are some of the results. I have to say I am pretty impressed and pleased with the outcome.

The Oxfordshire couple helping those in need in Calais
This letter sketch has been inspired my old work colleague Andy Bailey. Andy and his wife Hannah from Witney have made a choice and decided to personally help deliver aid to a migrant camp in Calais. They’ve handed out a car full of camping equipment – most of it had been donated from friends through social media. It’s now thought more than 5000 migrants are in need of help.

Lino Cutting – Am I completely mad?
A complete beginner
I have always thought lino-cutting was a complete waste of time at school. I even got a B in GCSE art, however I don’t think I appreciated the printing making technique and process.
So here I am embarking on a new adventure of lino-cutting. I’m not even sure how in the last few weeks lino-cutting came to be on my radar, but there I was searching amazon, ebay and art supply stores, for equipment.
Being a graphic designer and using computers most of the time, there has been many doubts in my mind of why I would even do this? Why would I painstakingly carve away at a piece of lino, to simply make a print – when photoshop probably has an effect for that? However there is something special and satisfying about creating a design from scratch. (Well hopefully it will be satisfying)
The advice I was given was, start with something simple. And so I drew a bee. I’m now realising I have probably started with an image far to complicated and far too detailed. So watch this space over the next few weeks as I carve away at lino for the first time. If you don’t see updates on this post soon – then I am still carving!

“People say graffiti is ugly, irresponsible and childish… but that’s only if it’s done properly.” ― Banksy
The last time I did anything close to graffiti was drawing bubble writing as a kid. I am not a graffiti specialist, but I totally appreciate the skill in art.

‘This belly ain’t going anywhere sitting on my butt’
Over the last 8 weeks I have lost fourteen pounds through dieting and lots of exercise. This design is by no means a representation of myself – for starters it’s a lot thinner.

‘My Shengshou 4×4 rubik cube came today!’ – Luke
Day three is inspired by friends of mine Guy and Luke. They are Father and son and love the Rubik’s cube big time. They carry it around with them, do it on the bus, do it walking down the street. If you bump into them, I guarantee they will have a rubik cube in their hands.
